Tyson beckford and Linara Washington in a scene from 'Kings of the Evening'

*Another great movie has eluded a major box office push and ends up on DVD shelves this week as Indican Pictures releases “Kings of the Evening” starring Emmy Award winning Glynn Turman and Lynn Whitfield.

This summer’s modest theatrical release was preceded by a stream of film festival wins that thrilled audiences nationwide.

“Kings” also stars Tyson Beckford as the main character Homer Hobbs who forms a kinship with strangers at a boarding house after his release from prison during the depression era.

Homer finds love, passion and the true grit of surviving with style from characters brilliantly performed by new leading lady Linara Washington, Reginald T. Dorsey (who also co-produced the film), Bruce McGill, James Russo, Steven Williams, Clyde Jones and Willard Pugh (the real Harpo).

“Kings of the Evening” draws from a fashionable African custom that reminds a man that the most important person that a man can see, is the man that faces him in the mirror. The heartwarming screenplay is co-written by Executive Producer Robert Jones and director/co-producer Andrew P. Jones.

Here is a film classic and a must have for those who appreciate a classy and sophisticated drama. The original film score is by Kevin Toney.

“Kings of the Evening” is rated PG and was shot on location in Bartlett, Texas.
